[Chirpoo](https://chirpoo.com/) is a web app that installs on the phone as a progressive web app, often shortened to PWA. It gets its own icon, opens full screen without browser bars, and can send push alerts. You install it straight from the browser, which takes under a minute and needs no download from a store. Why bother? A shared inbox on a laptop is fine for a front desk. But owners, trainers, sales staff and delivery coordinators are often on their feet. On Android, install it from Chrome or another browser that supports it. 1. Open app.chirpoo.com in the browser and sign in with your email code. 2. Open the browser menu and choose the option to install the app or add it to the Home Screen. The label differs slightly between browsers. 3. Confirm. The Chirpoo icon appears with your other apps. 4. Open Chirpoo from that icon, not from the browser, and allow notifications. After this, a new customer message produces an alert on the lock screen. Tapping it opens the chat. If you do not see the install option, check that you are using an up-to-date browser, and that you opened the real sign-in page rather than a link inside another app. A link opened inside a chat app's own viewer often lacks the install option. Copy the link into the browser instead. ## How do you install Chirpoo on an iPhone? On iPhone, the order matters. Add Chirpoo to the Home Screen first. Alerts only work from the installed icon, not from a browser tab. Apple explains this in the WebKit team's note on web push. The steps: 1. Open app.chirpoo.com in Safari and sign in with your email code. 2. Tap the Share button and choose **Add to Home Screen**. 3. Open Chirpoo from the new icon on your Home Screen. 4. When the app asks, allow notifications. Apple says the request must follow direct user interaction, so allow it when your phone asks. Do the steps in that order. If you ask for alerts from a Safari tab, the option will not appear. If you turned notifications off by mistake, change it in the iPhone's Settings for Chirpoo. ## Why do push alerts matter for a team? A push alert tells a person that something needs them. For a small business, three situations matter most. - **A new lead at 8 pm.** The person on duty hears it at once and replies while the customer is still interested. The WhatsApp Business app alerts the phone it is installed on. That is good for a one-person shop. For a team, it has gaps that no notification setting can fill. - An alert on one phone reaches whoever holds that phone. It does not choose the right person for the chat. - There is no assignment, so two people with the app on their phones can both answer, or both ignore it. - When the phone is off, lost, or the person leaves, the alerts go with it.
