Two WhatsApp Numbers in One Inbox: Sales and Support

Chirpoo lets you connect more than one WhatsApp number to a single workspace, so a sales number and a support number, or two branches, share one inbox. The first number is included in the ₹999 monthly price. Each extra number costs ₹250 a month, excluding 18% GST.

#Why would a business use more than one WhatsApp number?

A single number is the simplest start, and Chirpoo includes one. Here are the usual reasons to add a second.

  • Sales and support. Leads and existing customers want different things and different people answer them.
  • Branches. A gym or clinic with two locations may want each location to have its own number on its own board, with its own staff.
  • Brands or services. An agency or a business with two product lines keeps them apart for clarity.
  • Ads. A number used only for ad leads keeps lead chats out of the customer-care queue. See the click-to-WhatsApp guide.

The cost of splitting used to be a second phone or a second tool. Two phones means two logins to juggle and no shared view. In Chirpoo, the numbers sit in one workspace, so your team works from one inbox and you can see every chat in one place.

The next sections cover how it works, what it costs and what Meta limits per number. If you run a service for several clients, the post on WhatsApp for agencies with multiple clients goes into that case.

#How do two numbers work in one Chirpoo workspace?

You connect each number through Meta's official WhatsApp Business Platform, the Cloud API. Every number belongs to the same workspace and shows its chats in the same inbox. Your team members use their own logins to reach all of them.

A few points are worth knowing before you set up.

  • One contact per phone number. Chirpoo keeps a single contact for each customer phone number. If the same customer writes to both your numbers, you see one contact, not two strangers.
  • Choose which number sends. When you reply or start a message, you choose the number it goes out from. Check the sending number before you send. For a template or a flow, you pick the sending number deliberately, so a sales offer does not go from your support number.
  • Assignment still works. You can assign a chat to a person whichever number it came in on, as described in running an inbox with a team.

Name your numbers clearly inside your own team notes, such as "Sales, Kokapet" and "Support". It sounds obvious, but a confused sending number is an easy slip when you first add a second one.

Moving a number you already use is covered in moving from the WhatsApp Business app.

#How much does a second WhatsApp number cost?

Chirpoo costs ₹999 a month, excluding 18% GST. That includes one WhatsApp number and five team logins, plus the inbox, flows, broadcasts, templates, the AI agent, ad attribution, the API and MCP. An extra number is ₹250 a month, excluding 18% GST.

SetupMonthly Chirpoo cost, excluding 18% GST
One number, five logins₹999
Two numbers, five logins₹1,249
Three numbers, five logins₹1,499

The Commerce plan adds the Shopify store messages and the chat button for ₹1,499 a month, excluding 18% GST, with the same inclusions. Two numbers on Commerce would be ₹1,749.

Chirpoo never bills per message. Meta's charges for each message are paid by the business directly to Meta, so the table above is the whole of Chirpoo's fee. See the pricing guide for what Meta charges and the 1 Oct 2026 service-message change. The comparison pages show how this stacks up against per-number and per-user pricing elsewhere, for example Chirpoo vs WATI.

You are billed in rupees by invoice link, with no auto-debit. The first 14 days are free with every feature, and no card is needed.

#What are Meta's limits per number?

Two limits come from Meta, and they behave differently with several numbers.

The daily messaging limit is shared. Meta sets it at the business portfolio level. Its documentation says (checked 26 Oct 2026):

Messaging limits are calculated and set at the business portfolio level and are shared by all business phone numbers within a portfolio.

Source: Meta, Messaging limits

That means a second number does not double your daily reach. Meta adds that one number can consume all of the portfolio's messaging capability in a period. If your sales number sends a large campaign, your support number's outbound capacity shares the same pool. Replies inside a customer service window do not count against this limit, because it covers messages outside such a window. The detail is in the post on messaging limits and quality rating.

Throughput is per number. Meta's throughput page (checked 26 Oct 2026) says each registered business phone number supports up to 80 messages per second by default. A small business will not come near that.

The free service-message tier is per number. From 1 Oct 2026, Meta gives each business phone number 1,000 free service messages a month, per its pricing page. Two numbers get two allowances. The 24-hour window post explains the change.

#How should you plan a sales and support split?

Start with the question: who answers? Numbers that nobody owns go stale. Give each number a lead, and decide who covers it in each shift.

A sensible setup for a small team:

  1. Put leads and ad traffic on the sales number. Give those chats to the people who sell.
  2. Put existing customers and order or booking questions on the support number.
  3. Keep a rule for the customer who writes to the wrong number. Reply, then pass the chat to the right person by assignment and an internal note.
  4. Use tags to mark which product or branch a contact belongs to. See contact tags and segments.
  5. Run broadcasts from the number that the customer knows. A customer who knows you as "support" may find an offer from that number odd.

Be careful with quality, because the daily limit is shared across the portfolio. Send marketing only to people who opted in, and let Chirpoo's opt-out handling do its job, as described in the opt-out post.

Start free for 14 days, connect your first number, and add the second when you are ready. No card is needed.

Frequently asked questions about Chirpoo and this topic

How much does an extra WhatsApp number cost in Chirpoo?

An extra WhatsApp number is ₹250 a month, excluding 18% GST. Chirpoo itself is ₹999 a month, excluding 18% GST, and includes one number and five team logins. Meta's per-message charges are separate and are paid by you directly to Meta.

Does a second number double my messaging limit?

No. Meta says messaging limits are set at the business portfolio level and shared by all business phone numbers in that portfolio. A second number gives you a second line for your team, not a larger daily quota for starting conversations.

Can I choose which number sends a message?

Yes. Chirpoo lets you choose the number a message sends from. Check the sending number before you send. For templates, broadcasts and flows, pick the sending number on purpose so sales offers do not go out from the support line.

Will one customer appear twice if they write to both numbers?

Chirpoo keeps one contact for each phone number. A customer who writes to both of your numbers is one contact, so your team sees the full history and tags in one place instead of two separate records.
